What is Company Name Change ?

A company may choose to change its name for various reasons, such as rebranding, mergers and amalgamations, or a shift in business activities. Regardless of the reason, the procedure for changing the name remains consistent. The Companies Act, 2013, along with the applicable rules, outlines a clear and well-defined process for effecting a name change. Since the company’s name appears on key documents like the Memorandum of Association (MOA), Articles of Association (AOA), PAN, TAN, GST registration, etc., these must also be updated accordingly once the name change is approved.
